Conference Video Of The Month
Patrick
McKenzie: Building Things To Help Sell The Things You
Build
(73 mins, from MicroConf 2013)
A classic talk from Patrick McKenzie (aka Patio11 from Hacker News) at MicroConf. This one focuses on improving revenue from your SaaS web service by sending emails during the free trial. He also suggests calculating for customers how much time / money your service has saved them during the trial, so it's easy for them to justify the price at billing time. But if you're not a programmer, he also has advice for turning the frequently asked questions people ask you into a product (book, video series, etc) that you can sell online. The core of the talk starts 10 minutes in, but the intro spends time on why many indies go into business: to have freedom to spend time with family & friends.
